Lower Cave (aka My Basement Workshop) is where I keep my best axes and spears.
I am working on wheel v 2.0. It will be a 3D-chiseled septagon!
I’ve been also experimenting with electricity with varying degrees of success..

Social Distancing Helmet 2.0

Like many of you, having been stuck at home for the past two months, I’ve been going a bit stir crazy. Crazy being the operative word… So I thought I’d try a little Arduino electronics project and hopefully make a few of you laugh with my Social Distancing Helmet 2.0.  I will auction it off with proceeds going to a local charity – the Ottawa Food Bank.

In this longer version ~ 3 minutes, you can see a bit more about how the helmet was made. It actually works, sort-of. It uses an ultrasonic sensor to ‘look around’, measure how far are you from the nearest person and alert you if you are closer than 2 meters away. I guess I need version 3.0 with an infrared sensor so the helmet can tell the difference between a person and a wall.

I was going for a geek-look, so the generous amount of wires, rubber bands, duct tape, and even some plumbers putty is 100% intentional 😉
